My Blog - Tricky Toby

Welcome to Tricky Toby's blog. Here you will find the amazing life of a children's entertainer working all around London.

  1. Why you should hire a childrens entertainer for your party in London

Organizing a children's party can be quite a challenge if you've never done it before. Some parents are going to great lengths and the pressure is such that some parents would spend way too much money on a party for their child. Taking ten kids for a day out in an extremely busy theme park lasting 8 hours and giving ipods in their party bags (true story by the way!) may not be the most enjoyable way to celebrate your child's birthday!

You can take the stress out of a celebration by hiring a children's entertainer and renting a small hall near your home or by having the party in your home (if you have some space!). If you live in London you have a great choice of entertainers, magicians and clowns. How do you know who is the right entertainer for you and your child? Some clowns and entertainers may be more professional than others. There are some tired old entertainers out there!!

Toby has been performing for over eight years in London now. Many customers find me through recommendations (especially their children who may have seen me at their friends birthday).I would recommend you look at their reviews to ensure you will not be disappointed.

A good entertainer would be highly skilled in managing large or small groups of children. He/she should be funny and kind, not by saying toilet jokes and fooling around in a way that the children get out of control. A good magical entertainer should offer quality for children with magic that inspires the children's imagination and sense of humour.

Games played at parties should be inclusive and not elimination games (ie. musical chairs can leave some children feeling sad). Tricky Toby uses great music and games that include everyone and nobody gets eliminated. Choose the party music carefully too as there are some very rude pop songs around as well.

Remember to have a camera on hand to record those special moments (a group photo is a nice memory and you can send it out to all the parents) and don't forget a lighter for the birthday candles!

Toby will make every effort to fit in with your plans. For a children's entertainer in London who ticks all the boxes hire Tricky Toby.

  2. Childrens Entertainer London Stockwell

I was invited to be the entertainer and magician at Bev and Bo's (twin girls) birthday party in Stockwell, London. It was after school and sometimes children can be extra wild after sitting down all day!

When I arrived they were all sitting in orderly rows waiting for me to start (I wasn't late by the way!). No pressure then. It was all rather quiet but as soon as I asked if there was anybody there it was a signal for the room to explode!

Bev and Bo had met me before just two weeks ago in a birthday party in Sheen and were desperate to see me at theirs. They were so happy to be the stars and together with their friends we had a magical time. Sorry for the mums who had to be a little quieter while the show was live but they were enjoying it too!

A cute white rabbit had been requested as part of the show and was a big hit when he magically appeared! The twins were awarded A on their magic certificates and were given rapturous applause for all the magic. Thanks Mum and Dad for being such lovely hosts.

  3. Magician for kids party London

On the edge of London. Sunny Croydon in the lovely Addington Palace golf club for Laura's christening party. Dad had planned the day with food, dancing and of course some magic! As I always say- you need a magician for a kids party!

Laura wanted to come out to help do the magic with her best friend so with wands ready we proceeded to entertain the crowd including all the adults who were eating nearby. I have a little house with a mouse hiding in one of the rooms but somehow the children always see it before me!! How can a hat turn into a real rabbit? You need to see the show! Lots of fun and balloons too. A magical hour and everyone was happy. A hole in one I reckon.

  4. Magician in Uxbridge - DOUBLE TROUBLE! Twin girls party

A baking hot garden in a quiet cul-de-sac near Heathrow. Mum had pulled out all the stops to make the girls' day. A bouncy castle, a face painter, music and to top it all off Tricky Toby- the only magician in Uxbridge, London with seven rabbits (only one is real!). So now there's magic in the air!

Di and Varni in their beautiful dresses and butterflies all over their faces! We did the magic laundry and nearly soaked an uncle in the process. FUN!

Mr snake came out of his basket too and made everyone wet (well, not too wet). Balloons made everyone happy too. A generous aunty bought ice creams all round to cool off and a fantastic party to be remembered.

  5. Dog does Magic Mess in Battersea and you wouldn't believe what happens next!

Beautiful afternoon in Battersea in a nursery. I was invited to entertain a group of children leaving the nursery so it was 'Goodbye' event. All the littlies were very suprised to meet Rubbish the lost dog. A LOST DOG IN BATTERSEA? And with some sensible advice on not dropping litter Rubbish kept making quite a mess! Arrest that dog! NO WONDER his previous owner abandoned him! Hilariously naughty and a new addition to my magic show. We also met a real live white rabbit too and together made some magic sweets. How did we do that? It's magic with lots of laughter!!
